I didn't sleep last night. At all. Instead, I cranked out 1,559 words for NaNoWriMo. Would've been more, but Ghost Hunters Live was on, and it was a spectacular show.

So, 1,559 out of the daily minimum of 1,667, and my daily goal of 4,000 (100,000 words in 25 days... I can totally do this). Better get crackin' here.

An excerpt:

They're coming. There's no getting around that. It's the inevitable. And, tell me honestly here, would you ever fight the inevitable?
That's right. No.
...Unless, of course, you said “yes”, in which case you really, really need to read this book. It is of the utmost importance.
For everyone else (those who said “no”), well, you still really need to read this book.

What's so important about this book in particular? It will help you survive. Yeah, I see you perking up on that one. I mean, does not everyone want to survive?
The answer to that question, unlike the previous question, is “yes, everyone wants to survive”. And, assuming that you are not no one, you want to survive.

Zombies. You probably think you know what they are, but, odds are, you don't know the slightest thing.

Robots. They're already here. God save us when they begin usurping us.

Raptors. Oh my God, raptors! Holy crap where did they come from! Get them out of here!

So, you wanna survive? Yes? Good. Let's get this shit started then.

Alright, here's a great writing exercise, especially right before NaNoWriMo:

Write for just five or ten minutes, non-stop, getting as many words as you can. This is great before NaNoWriMo because it helps get you into the mindset of 'just writing' without worrying about what you're writing.

This is one I did about ten minutes ago.

I was in the war, stuck in a bunker. I should have been at home. In my green chair. Reading a newspaper. Seeing her lovely face.
Why wasn't I at home? Why was I instead stuck in this pit, surrounded by blood and sweat and dirt?
An explosion happened in the distance. I didn't jump. Didn't have a need to jump. I actually found myself wishing it was closer. Maybe it could have taken me out of the ditch. Maybe.
I thought of her again. She's why I really didn't want the explosion closer. I wanted to see her again.
But I wouldn't. I knew that. I would never see anyone again. I knew that I was there only to die. I wasn't supposed to live. It's not what my government wanted me to do. They wanted me to die.
I thought of her again. Her lovely face. Her deep blue eyes. Her red lips.
Everyone wanted me dead. No one had any real need for me. I was supposed to die.
Gunfire rained above me. An explosion was close. People all around me started rushing out of the ditch. I followed.
I thought of her again. Her smell. That fragrance. I would never smell it again. I would never see her again.
I stared up at the sky. People ran past me. No one helped. I was supposed to die. For my government.
I thought of her again.
